Shibori

Shibori is an ancient Japanese resist dyeing technique. It involves very specific methods of preparing the fabric before dyeing, whereby the fabric is either bound, clamped, stitched or wrapped around a pole and then immersed in dye. Sylvia Riley Designs has adopted these techniques and altered them with a contemporary flavour to create the fabric for the garments in this collection. Each piece of fabric is dyed individually, so there will be minor variations between each piece. This is your guarantee that the item you are purchasing is a one off and not mass produced.
